Heritage Wardens Needed

From Leicestershire County Council

People are being called upon to join a growing network of Heritage Wardens to help monitor and conserve the rich heritage of Leicestershire's countryside.

Heritage Wardens go out in their local areas and to record all aspects of wildlife and the countryside, from surveying habitats to discovering signs of past inhabitants.

The Heritage Warden scheme already has 169 active volunteers in 129 parishes - about 44 per cent of Leicestershire and Rutland - but more are needed to join the network (including Thurlaston), and help with this important work.

Thurlaston Ramblers at Foxton Locks

On Saturday July the 12th sixteen members enjoyed a circular six mile walk, in perfect weather, around the Foxton area. Lead by Ian Dickie, starting at the Locks, taking in Lubenham and Gartree, and back to Bridge 61 at the Locks for refreshments.
