Thurlaston Parish Council
The parish council's role includes:

- Managing the Recreation Ground including the Play Equipment.
- Liaising with, and assisting when needed, local activities & groups.
- Providing responses when asked by BDC to comment on planning applications.
- Acting as a focal point for parishioners who raise concerns and being an 'influencer' in presenting such concerns to other bodies.
What has the Parish Council ever done for me?
- Street lights in New Walk.
- Tree Seat placed in centre of Recreation Ground.
- Village Christmas tree organised.
- Contribution made to churchyard and clock maintenance.
- Bus Stop moved to more suitable location.
- Parish Web site set up.
- Crusade against dog-fouling.
- On-going effort to have traffic-calming measures installed.
- Funds ear-marked as contribution towards Village Hall extension
- Hedges cut where they interfere with traffic safety.
For the parishioner with a concern or complaint, it's not always easy to know where to turn. Remember that, although the local Parish Council may appear to have only a few formal responsibilities, it frequently fulfils a critical and wide-ranging role in being the first port-of-call for a local resident anxious to resolve some difficulty. Feel free to call any of Thurlaston's Parish Councillors with your query, complaint or even compliment. The administration of the Parish Council is carried out by an officer known as the Clerk.
